The Collected Poems of Lucille Clifton, 1965–2010

Like all great poets, Lucille Clifton made what is intensely personal universal, and what is widely felt a visceral experience. Her poems do not shy away from that which is painful, but move into it and illuminate it with humor, intelligence, and the wonder of language. To finally have a full collection of her work is an opportunity not to be missed. We can proudly call her a local poet: She taught at UCSC!
