Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill

Full of poems for the bold feminist princess you never knew you were, Fierce Fairytales is the perfect collection for fans of Rupi Kuar and Amanda Lovelace. Nikita Gill turns fairytale tropes on their head and invites new readings of their protagonists, turning helpless maidens into warriors with agency. The women in these poems don’t wait for the prince to come and rescue them - they’ll do it themselves, thank you very much! - Jessica

The Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner

I am so freaking excited for this book! I love folk tales, and this one is particularly rooted in the Jewish folklore it is drawn from. I hope you, like me, will be eagerly anticipating the book the acclaimed Madeline Miller praised so highly, calling it, “...a gripping, powerful story of family, sisterhood, and two young women trying to find their way in the world.” Sure to appeal to fans of Bear and the Nightingale and Spinning Silver, two of my absolute faves, I can’t wait to get my hands on it! - Jax

The Dinosaur Artist by Paige Williams

While the Jurassic Park franchise has shown us what we're all missing out on by not bringing giant carnivores back to life, the real drama is in the bones (and its recent shenanigans! Like, just six years ago!) International fossil laws are comprised of many grey areas and limited means of reinforcing said laws, which allows discreet black market exploitation to happen. Key word: discreet. The situations surrounding the auction of a full dino skeleton (a cousin of the T. rex) are propelled forward by the writing style and descriptions, bringing to life the Gobi landscape, Florida beaches, and the animals that once lived throughout. While not usually a fan of legal thrillers, just toss in a dinosaur custody battle and I will read and love the heck out of it. - Rachel

The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

The Cormoran Strike novels have so many of the elements I love in mysteries. The main characters are flawed but winning, there is a fiendish puzzle at the heart of each book, and there are equal helpings of darkness and snort-inducing humour. On top of that, the series has one of the most delicious will-they-won't-they romance subplots I have ever read. - Ilana

Just like the high school friend your mother didn’t approve of, this book will shock you, make you cackle, and get under your skin. - Ilana
