This is pure mystery-solving, bad-guy-bludgeoning, summer-camp fun, and with buoyant, off-the-wall art and well-rounded [feminist] characters, it’s already set up to be a hit. —Booklist
Lumberjanes follows the summer camp shenanigans of five badass, intelligent girls. It's about friendship and love (platonic and romantic), and the discovery of self. Watching the affection grow between two of the Lumberjanes (Mal and Molly) is a lovely warm spark that so many can relate to, falling into a content togetherness. Perfect for peoples of all ages, this will always be a favorite of mine.— Rachel
Lumberjanes is intended as a kids’ series, but this is definitely a comic for all ages. A group of girls goes to summer camp—Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp for Hardcore Lady Types, to be precise—where all sorts of weird and magical hidings ensue. Included in their group are a trans girl, two queer girls whose relationship blossoms during the series, and a non-binary camper. Along the way they meet sasquatches who listen to vinyl, Greek gods having family squabbles, punk rock merfolks, and a grumpy old lady who can turn into a bear.
Lumberjanes was originally intended as an 8 issue mini-series, but the demand has been so great that they recently celebrated their 60th issue, and the series is ongoing!— J
